Deposit Payments 💳
Accepting partial payments for appointments is crucial for most businesses, and with deposit payments it is possible to do just that. Set a part from your appointment total price as deposit and your customers will have to pay that amount during the booking process, and reduce the number of possible cancellations. With deposit payments, your customers will pay a certain amount during booking, while the rest of the appointment price should be paid on the spot.
Please note: In order to be able to configure deposit payments you need to have at least one online payment provider connected.
Deposit can be enabled and configured for each service individually. Once you open the Edit Service page for service, and go under the Settings tab you will see the "Enable deposit payments" option, and once you enable it additional options for setting up your deposit will appear:
- Deposit Type - here you can choose between Fixed Amount and Variable Amount. Fixed deposit type will allow you to set an exact amount which your customers will have to pay during booking, where as Variable deposit type allows you to set up a percentage type deposit, which will calculate the deposit amount as that percentage of the total appointment price.
- Fixed/ Variable Amount- depending on your chosen deposit type, here you will be able to enter the amount for your deposit payment
- Multiply deposit by the number of people in one booking- this options appears only for Fixed deposit type, if the group booking option is enabled, and when you check this option the amount you set for your deposit will be multiplied by the number of people in that booking
- Allow customers to pay full amount in one payment- this option will show an additional selection on the last step of the booking form(General Information) where the customer will be able to choose whether or not they want to pay the total appointment price during the booking process or just the deposit amount.
Please note : If your fixed deposit is in any case more than the total appointment price, due to coupons, custom pricing for employees etc. ,your customers will pay the full appointment price. For this reason, we recommend using Variable Amount for deposit type in these use cases
When the deposit amount is paid on the booking website, an invoice is created with a "Partially Paid" status, as well as a transaction for the deposit amount. After your customer pays for the rest of the appointment you can set the invoice status to "Paid" and another transaction will be created for the rest of the amount(Left to pay amount) .
